At Kokopelli Tours, we specialize in wildlife tours in the mangroves for small groups, with a minimum of 2 people. We cater to the time frame you have available to take a tour with us.
Claudia Langguth, owner of Kokeplli Tours and long-time resident of Sierpe, is German. She speaks English, French, Spanish, and German, and can give you the best advice about this little corner of paradise.
Sierpe is the gate to the most extensive virgin mangrove forest in Costa Rica, and serves as a refuge for an uncountable number of bird species and other wild animals.

“Now THIS is Costa Rica! – I’ve been staying in Ojochal, and while it’s nice, I knew I was missing out on Costa Rica. I knew it was around here somewhere, I just hadn’t stumbled upon it yet! This is, until I turned off the main road toward Sierpe. Now here is the Central America I know and love! Gorgeous drive to Kokopelli, where I met Claudia and the boat captain. I was so fortunate to have them all to myself! That captain- like seriously, he can spot an ant at the top of a 50 foot tree! It’s crazy how he can spot things so easily! Makes you wonder just how much stuff you walk by without ever noticing. We saw EVERYTHING! Caiman, crocodile, scarlet macaws (on my bucket list- check!), a sloth, spider, white face, and howler monkeys, boas, all kinds of cool birds I can’t remember the name of, a HUGE iguana…..wow. Just WOW! I highly recommend Kokopelli. Will definitely be back!”
